The owner wanted something that he could ride as a versatile Club Bike with modern Italian style.

Understated and graceful with flowing aesthetics and a clean lines.

Being an ex-collegiate football player we used the Columbus Spirit for Lugs tubing for a combination of stiffness and ride quality. A set of the ubiquitous Pacenti lugs were custom carved into an elegant shape invoking lugged Italian frames from the Masters. Additionally the new Pacenti 'dual plate' fork crown provides a hint of history.

The bike is outfitted with the Campagnolo Athena 11speed gruppo and hand built wheels featuring White Industry hubs.

The luxurious HOK Purple Passion paint is a real treat.

Built for a local master's racer this is a full-on race bike.

Designed to be stiff, agile, quick and fast we used double-oversize stainless lugs and Columbus tubes for the frame and built it with top-of-the-line components to create a purposeful machine.

We painted it a sublime Saffron yellow to ensure maximum visibility either from within the pack (biding our time) or riding out front in the break.

Polished lugs compliment the overall scheme with the as-built weight (including pedals) totaling under 17lbs.

Who says steel is obsolete?

Not us.

Here's the note I received from the owner concerning finishing choices.

Color. I will leave this up to you with the following comments:

a) I like the deep blue and purple you show in your gallery.
b) If it's an option, the HOK Kameleon colors are intriguing.
c) From what I've seen, I trust your judgment in choosing a color.
d) Make it special.
e) I'm open for a surprise.
f) I am less of a fan of the orange, red, yellow, gold, or silver colors, but again, I won't rule these out.
g) Deep pink (e.g. magenta) is a possibility.
h) I'll be pleased with whatever you come up with.
i) No pressure ;-)

I think we nailed it.

Hot Rods have been a big part of American culture since people starting taking the fenders off of their '32 Fords to make them go faster.

These early hot rods followed the "run what you brung" dictum in that cars were assembled and tuned with the parts at hand and that what you drove to the track is what you ran at the track.

Our latest Vendetta road bike keeps the hot rod culture alive in two-wheeled form in that it was assembled entirely of parts that the client gave to us in a box and it's painted flat black. Performance, however, is not sacrificed and underneath is a frame of Columbus SFL tubing, RS investment cast lugs and careful silver brazing to provide the rider a hot rod of their very own.

The classic hot rod style is enjoying a resurgence. Recently Lamborghini introduced a limited edition car, the Reventon, and the first one is painted flat black.

This was a very special project, the customer asked for "something special and not purple."

This gave us a lot of freedom and we are really proud of the result. Since we pin in our process we decided to highlight that and showcase the pins by using bronze metal pins in 1/8" diameter over our normal 1/16" diameter steel or stainless steel pins.

Once polished we then chemically treated the bronze pins to give them an aged, antique patina which matches wonderfully with the dark brown and gold pearl paint job.

The frame is built entirely with Columbus Spirit for Lugs tubing and features hand carved Pacenti lugs, fork crown and polished Dazza stem kit.

Another Molteni Orange with gold pearl.

The frame is built with Columbus Life tubing and matched with Henry James lugs, HJ stainless steel dropouts and a Pacenti bottom bracket shell.

A custom-lugged stainless steel stem is coupled with a mixture of Campy Chorus and Record components to provide reliability and performance for many seasons to come.

Blue Bayou by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson

I feel so bad I've got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind on Blue Bayou

Saving nickels, saving dimes, working until the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times on Blue Bayou

I'm going back some day come what may to Blue Bayou
Where you sleep all day and the catfish play on Blue Bayou
All those fishing boats with their sails afloat
If I could only see that familiar sunrise through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be

Go to see my baby again
And to be with some of my friends
Maybe I'd be happy then on Blue Bayou

I'm going back some day, gonna stay on Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine and the world is mine on Blue Bayou
Oh, that girl of mine by my side the silver moon and the evening tide
Oh, some sweet day gonna take away this hurting inside
I'll never be blue, my dreams come true on Blue Bayou
