“A track bike is pure in nature and spirit ”
I use Photoshop CS to resize the images to facilitate loading/viewing, but they are not corrected or modified in terms of color or detail.
The customer requested a color based on the 1970's British Leyland color - Blackberry - but he wanted it deep and richer.
We worked with the painter to develop a custom House of Kolor Kandy paint job that is truly different in different shades and types of light. In direct sunlight it's a dark red - the Blackberry color from the paint chip. In overcast situations it's purple or plum or aubergine or even black in dark lighting conditions.
Hand-built wheels, Campagnolo, Phil Wood, Chris King, Dazza Stem kit, and Drew's stainless seat post round out the build.
Built with Columbus Spirit for Lugs tubes, Henry James stainless steel lugs and fork crown, all topped off with a Llewellyn (Dazza) stem kit and Drew's (Engin) stainless seat post.
Polished lugs. Polished stem. Polished bottom bracket. Polished fork crown. Polished drop outs. Polished brake bridge. Polished head tube badge.
The frame was finished using a mulit-step House of Kolor process. Both pearls and candies were involved. Needless to say the paint takes on various hues under different lighting conditions from black to metallic purple.
Built with Columbus tubes, Pacenti lugs, bottom bracket shell, and fork crown all topped off with a Llewellyn (Dazza) stem kit.
The paint is a full iridescent House of Kolor Kandy Apple Red custom mixed to provide additional richness and depth. Coupled with the polished stainless Nuovo Richie lugs it makes a striking combination.
Conceived from the beginning as a single-speed commuter this bike features relaxed geometry over a regular track bike.
The new Columbus Spirit for Lugs tubes provides the metal underpinnings for the frame while the painted to match classically Italian Silca frame pump and NOS Campy metal head compliment the final build.
A track bike is a limited venture, albeit pure in nature and spirit. No brakes, no shifters, no derailleurs, only your legs and a single-fixed gear determine its ultimate speed. This one is no exception. Ultra-short chainstays and steep angles characterize this frame - mirroring its home track of Alpenrose, which at 268 meters in length with 44 degrees of banking in the corners will test those who ride it.
Aesthetically this bicycle features a hand-polished custom stainless steel stem, chrome fork crown, chrome lugs, chrome dropouts, and drive-side chainstay along with a set of polished 28-hole rims and a hand-polished Campy Record Track crankset.
The paint is black with black decals. Only the silver outlines show. Built with a mixture of old and new Campagnolo Pista equipment this bike offers a stunning look at what steel can do.
